now that i don't emo as much, i don't have much to blog about!
since (as most of you have realised) my long entries are emo entries.
well.. i do emo about certain stuff but those are really private and i can only hide them inside my hand-written sort of diary.

chinese new year has been unexpectedly rewarding this year. (angpows aside)
okay well my angpow money is not as pathetic as i thought it would be. last year i didn't even dare to count my angpow money cuz it was sucha measely amount. this year i did a rough estimate. quite good! (:

and that day i had an insightful chat with my cousin's new angmoh wife! she's called nathalie and she's from australia. an english teacher! she made me realise how badly i avoid speaking the english language. i kinda have a phobia. gah.
and she talked about singapore's education system.. stuff like that. when she told her students in primary school to write a story, all they did was ask her "how many paragraphs?", "how many words?", "how many lines?"
and she said "i don't care how many words you write! i don't care how many grammatical errors you have! i want a story!"
and so, the students stoned at the piece of writing paper, feeling helpless. they were so restricted by numbers.. by requirements of examinations and schoolwork that they even forgot how to write a story..

that's quite sad eh? singapore's education system is all about numbers. statistics.
students are restricted to do things in one way. there's no diversity. they are afraid to deviate from the norm. school teaches them to do A, B, then C. this rote learning method is stifling our education environment!
gah this sounds like what i wrote in my GP essay.
okay i shall end this boring post with yet another talentime advertisement. im kinda nervous.
