COMPLAINT LETTER ABOUT TRANSTAR COACH SERVICES
Together with 3 of my friends, I signed up for a 4-day 3-night trip to Genting Highlands and Sunway Lagoon. The hotel lodging and coach service was provided by Transtar. We were very pleased by the lodging and coach service for the first three days. However, our nightmare started on the fourth day.
We received instructions from Transtar to put on our Transtar stickers and wait in the Pyramid Tower Hotel lobby at 1:30pm for the bus driver. After an hour of waiting, we called Transtar and we were told that the bus was only leaving at 3 pm. We continued to wait in the middle of the lobby with our stickers, desperately looking out for anybody who looked like a bus driver. Two of my friends approached a Transtar bus driver outside the hotel lobby to ask if we were supposed the board that bus back to Singapore. He insisted that the coach was full and that we were not checked in for the ride. He also claimed that there would be another bus for us. We waited in the lobby for another half an hour in vain as there was no bus to fetch us back to Singapore. We called Transtar again. This time, the receptionist at Transtar really tested our patience. Below is a summary of the conversation i had with her:
Me: "We missed the bus and now we are stranded in the hotel."
Receptionist: "Oh REALLY?"
Me: "REALLY! Can you please ask the bus to turn back? There is some mistake. We should be on the bus back to Singapore now!"
Receptionist: "The bus has already gone half an hour ago! The bus cannot turn back!"
Me: "Then what do we do?"
Receptionist: "Go Pudu Raya to take the bus!"
Me: "Is there any refund?"
Receptionist: "No no there is no refund!"
And she did not even apologise to me for the mistake made. We were innocently following instructions but we got labelled as the people in the wrong. How fair is this?
Pudu Raya is a very dangerous and messy part of Kuala Lumpur. We are only four underage girls struggling to find a safe way to get back to Singapore. By suggesting us to go to Pudu Raya for a bus ride is very irresponsible of Transtar. In the first place, the driver should have let us board the bus as we held the receipt for the bus booking. We then took a taxi to a place in KL to book a coach ride back to singapore. The taxi ride cost us 34RM. We were utterly shattered when all the buses at the "Nice" bus agency were fully booked. This left us with no choice but to take a train at KL Central. The trains at KL central were fully booked too. The taxi ride back to Singapore would cost 800RM, which we could not afford. We had no choice but to make our way to Pudu Raya to take a bus. The street was filled with scary people who looked ready to harm us and the place was so messy we could not find any reliable bus agency. Finally, my friend's cousin fetched us back to his house in Malacca and we took a coach back to Singapore the next morning. We paid 16RM each for the coach ticket.
We were scared out of our wits. We could have been safely on the bus back to Singapore if Transtar paid more attention to their customers' welfare and safety. I demand a compensation of any sort, firstly for the breach of agreement on the coach services included in the trip, and secondly for the emotional damage we suffered when we thought we had no hope of returning to Singapore.
Yours sincerely
